About

My name is Alex Maldonado, I am a self taught artist. I was born in Los Angeles and raised throughout the Greater Los Angeles area. The experience of living in diverse cities had a great impact on my creative work. As a child growing up with a single mom and one older sister, I spent most of my days doodling. In my teenage years I became fascinated by the underground world of New York's graffiti scene. I practiced for hours trying to mimic the NYC legends. By the time I graduated high school there was little time to pursue art, only the pursuit to join the working force. In 2000 I got a huge break, while working at the renowned So-Cal Speed Shop in Pomona, California. The marketing manager inquired about my illustrating skills, only to flat out tell me it was shit. 6 months later he gave another shot, maybe he was desperate or maybe I had improved. Either way it was the beginning of my career as a creative.  I had little experience with computers and even less experience with Adobe after a 2 week crash course I was up and running. 15 years later I've never looked back, there's still so much to learn.
